Negative GDP growth in USA Jan-Mar 2022 quarter |
2022-04-28 |
[CNBC] Gross domestic product unexpectedly declined 1.4% in the first quarter, marking an abrupt reversal for an economy coming off its best performance since 1984, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. The negative growth rate missed even the subdued Dow Jones estimate of a 1% gain for the quarter. A plethora of factors conspired to weigh against growth during the first three months of 2022, which fell off a cliff following the 6.9% gain to close out last year. |

#7 Couldn’t have been done without Mitch’s help. Good news is Biden may get his opportunity to make a re-election bid. Any other Dem would be stupid to stamp on the burning lunch bag that this Administration has left on our doorstep. Abrams might run but she probably has Galactic ambitions. |

#6 Unexpectedly my ass. We are in a recession moving into a depression and stagflation is a feature until the end of the year at least. It is that 70s show all over again. |

#4 This is, as we learned in the 1970s, the only way to stop inflation. Best to take our medicine now. The longer you wait, as we also learned in the 1970s, the worse the medicine is. |

#3 Will be a perfect time for the new pub congress to say "there's no money, we can't borrow more, our hands are tied." Of course, that won't happen... |

#2 and next quarter the economy will have to deal with an increase in Fed Funds rate, increase in prime, etc. as well as the continuing supply chain mess and nasty inflation |

#1 I think the dems messed up a bit. They were supposed to crash the economy and let a pub administration inherit it. |
