[ALAHRAM] A Cairo criminal court sentenced on Sunday four people to life and a woman to three years in prison that were convicted in the

Life in prison carries a sentence of 25 years in jail in Egypt.

The court also acquitted three from charges of espionage in the same case.

The verdicts are not final and can be appealed.
*sigh* Ten years from now they’ll finally have wended their way through the entire appeals process to the final verdict, whoever they are. But in the meantime they’ll be put on trial for other things, and so still be wending through. Still, they’ll be living in jail the entire time, so it’s like having been sentenced to life imprisonment...
The prosecution accused the defendants of spying for the terrorist group Islamic State

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (IS) from 2012 to 2018.

The defendants allegedly agreed to supply ISIS’ members within the country with necessary funding and information about vital institutions — specifically Gargoub Maritime Port, and Ramses and Sidi Gaber Train Stations — in order to attack them.

These communications were conducted through Telegram — a messaging application — the prosecution explained.

The prosecution also charged the defendants with financing a terrorist group to commit an act of terrorism, the statement said, as they collected, received, possessed, supplied, transferred, and provided money and information to ISIS with the intention of using them to commit terrorist crimes.

#1  I agree with the lesser sentence for the woman as there is probably little difference between living in Egypt and a prison sentence for her. Three years and then she has to cook her own meals and live with ISIS symps for the rest of her natural life. No more welfare. Three years of supporting her is enough.
