Wells Fargo held ‘fake interviews' to feign diversity efforts, employees claim
2022-05-22
[Washington Examiner] Wells Fargo routinely interviewed women and people of color to record diversity efforts in its hiring practices despite already offering the positions to other candidates, several employees have alleged.

The banking company has a long-standing informal policy that employers interview "diverse" candidates, defined by the company as women or people of color, for open positions. However, several employees said they began to realize candidates were often interviewed for positions that had already been offered to someone else.

"You feel very uncomfortable being on the other side of that table doing an interview, and you know that candidate has a zero chance of getting the job — zero," Joe Bruno, a former Wells Fargo executive, told Action News. "These are real human beings on the other side of the table. They have families. I have a family. It’s just wrong."

#6  I should point out the selected person was a black female who mismanaged her staff so badly, almost all the responsibility was removed and then the staff was removed leaving her basically as a special assistant but with the title of a staff leader.

Eventually her only job was to show up at meetings where they needed a black female to be in the picture.

#5  I remember a case where the quals were done to fit a preselected person but where the boilerplate quals ended up disqualifying her. So they revoked the position announcement and reissued it two months later after the person had met the boilerplate qual

#4  Everyone does this. It is a complete waste of time mandated by fear of the EEOC.

#3  The shorter the announcement window, the more likely an inside 'pre-selection' is in the works.

Quals are written specifically listing Pre-selection' candidate's unique background and skills.

Eugene the inside guy gets the nod, but is told the process is very sensitive and can be easily queered if too much is said. Eugene's lips are sealed.

#2  Dealt with local government on the same issue. My resume was so good that they actually had to withdraw the job announcement to 'rewrite' it, aka post stealthily later for their pre-selected candidate. Kept him/her from the job though for another six weeks.

#1  Same game Government civilian personnel offices (CPO's) and recruiters have played for decades.

Cover for...'pre-selection.' Wells Fargo's reverse application.
