They have them in schools.
[Breitbart] Deploying high-tech scanners to spot someone carrying a gun into New York City’s subway system before they have a chance to use it is an option under increasing consideration by Mayor Eric Adams (D), a report Wednesday details.

AP outlines the argument in favor of random weapon checks has returned in the aftermath of a mass shooting on a New York City subway train.

Security experts counsel installing such a system in the city’s subway system has distinct challenges but is not impossible.

The fact scanners need to be accompanied by human operators to confront people carrying firearms illegally is the main problem rather than the availability of the technology.

If approved they will help stem one aspect of the violence that is increasingly coming to define the porous mass transit system.
One imagines most of the guns carried onto the subway are illegal — in that part of the world carried by gangbangers rather than solid citizens. If so, will the outcome be deemed racist?

It's a METAL DETECTOR, not a Gun Detector, nor a Bomb Detector.

Which means Laptops, cell phones, keys, belt buckets, Facial hardware, and more will all cause detections. Resulting in MASSIVE delays.

Given NYC subway has approximately 5.6 million daily riders headed to work with various metal items. Imagine delay of 5.6 million people taking their shoes off and on.

Plus, a nutcase will have more to shoot or bomb with everybody waiting in line to get through the metal detectors.

This stupid idea / trial balloon is going to be a "Gunny Highway moment".
