Crowds honor WWII veterans at Normandy D-Day celebrations
2022-06-07
[AnNahar] When D-Day veterans set foot on the Normandy beaches and other World War II sites, they express a mix of joy and sadness. Joy at seeing the gratitude and friendliness of the French toward those who landed on June 6, 1944. Sadness as they think of their fallen comrades and of another battle now being waged in Europe: the war in Ukraine.

As a bright sun was rising over the wide band of sand of Omaha Beach on Monday, 78 years on, U.S. D-Day veteran Charles Shay expressed thoughts for his comrades who fell that day. "I have never forgotten them and I know that their spirits are here," he told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The 98-year-old Penobscot Native American from Indian Island, Maine, took part in a sage-burning ceremony near the beach in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer.

#9  #5 I don't use gurgle, so I didn't see their doodie doodle yesterday. I will assume it was ghey.

#6 ^^ probably was, you know we're all supposed to bow down to the letter people all month.

Why do you think gurgle renamed itself "Alphabet"?
(I believe that's what's known as a ghey buttwhistle)

#8  /\ Failing to recognize the Allied landing and victory. Sort of makes sense. Russia doesn't recognize D-Day either.

#3  ...On the other hand, the White House - which missed any D-Day commemorations completely last year - suddenly remembered about 8PM EST last night that they should do something. Posted a quick graphic and called it a day.

#2  Not huge for a MAGA rally but huge for the multi-day, multi-thousand dollar investment required.
