Sudan will summon back its ambassador to Addis Ababa immediately for consultations following the killing of seven Sudanese soldiers who were being held captive by the Æthiopian military, the foreign ministry said on Monday.

The ministry will also summon the Æthiopian ambassador to Khartoum on Monday to directly condemn the killing, it added.

The Sudanese armed forces said in a statement late Sunday :"In an act that contravenes all laws and customs of war and international humanitarian law, the Æthiopian army executed seven Sudanese soldiers and a citizen who were their captives."

Sudanese leader warns of tangible response to execution of Sudanese military

[REGNUM] The Sudanese authorities will give a tangible response to the execution of Sudanese soldiers after a clash on the border with Ethiopia. This was stated by the head of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan , the press service of the Sudanese army reported.

He also promised that Khartoum would not allow such events in the future, as well as any encroachment on its territory.

Earlier, the Sudanese Ministry of Defense announced the execution of seven Sudanese soldiers who were captured by the Sudanese side after the conflict on the border between the two states.
Garowe adds:
Tensions between Sudan and Ethiopia have run high in recent years because of a spillover of the conflict in Ethiopia's northern Tigray region and Ethiopia's construction of a giant hydropower dam on the Blue Nile.

Tens of thousands of refugees have fled into eastern Sudan and there have been military skirmishes in an area of contested farmland along the border between Sudan and Ethiopia.
