| #1 ...A tactical draw, but a strategic victory for the US - the Japanese lost one CV, losses to the Japanese carrier aircrews were bad, and that was aggravated by the fact that the IJN's aircrew training couldn't turn out anywhere near the numbers needed fast enough to sustain combat.
