What's the Best Way to Season Corn on the Cob?
2022-07-09
(G&G) In a recent Talk of the South newsletter, we asked readers, "How do you season your corn?" Here are a few of the many responses:

Salt and pepper. But only if necessary. Silver Queen doesn’t need a thing. —Diane D.

In my family, only Duke’s mayo and salt and pepper would do. Can’t get it that way in public, so it’s an in-home guilty pleasure. —Ann W.

Just salt, butter, and curry powder. —Jim Z.

#13  Another take is when Mrs Mundi grills the corn, then takes it off the cob and then combines the ingredients.

#12  #6 & #7 absolutely, street corn!Use a mix of butter n mayo and spread all over. Roll in crumbled cotija cheese. Dust with tajin powder. I'll burn entire villages down just for a couple of years of this.

#8  Me and my mom used to go out and get 144 ears of sweet corn, bring it home, shuck it out, bake it with lots of butter and can it into jars.
Best if you get the corn directly off the stalks.

Damn that was good, sweet, corn all winter long.

#7  ^Yep: the Mexican way. If I were being executed, I'd ask for some in my last meal.

#6  A guy of Mexican heritage turned me on to corn on the cob with mayo. Yummy stuff, but I'm just as content with butter, [seasoned] salt, pepper, and maybe a dash of some spicy pepper as Raj mentioned.

Got some last week at the store: 4 for $1. I'm always kind of curious where fresh corn comes from in June-July, but, there we are.
