NHK world-Japan quoted former police officer and security expert Ito Koichi making comments after analyzing footage showing the attacker wandering around with a bag and walking straight up to Abe. Ito said that when observing such suspicious behavior, the person must be kept away even before asking questions and inspecting belongings. He also pointed out that coppers failed to effectively coordinate with each other to make appropriate responses. | |

#7 From Skidmark’s link: Unemployed Yamagami, 41, told investigators he acted because he believed rumors that Abe was connected to an organization that he resents, police said. Neighbours described him as a loner who did not reply when spoken to. Japanese media reported that the man had developed hatred toward a religious group that his mother was obsessed about and that caused his family financial problems. The reports did not specify the group. |
