| Lapid approves shuttering Eritrean embassy after ambassador blocked — report |

National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age... , the Ynet news site reports. Lapid approved the move after Eritrea has been stalling the arrival of the ambassador for two years, Ynet says. The embassy has remained empty. Instead, Israel will open an embassy in Mozambique, the report says. |
