First Protest Spotted At The Tour de France |
2022-07-12 |
This happened about ten minutes ago; a couple of knuckleheads laying down in the road and set off some red smoke bombs. Race was temporarily stopped by race officials. If you get USA Network, check it out now; I'll post links as they become available. [CyclingNews] 'We must stop the mad dash to our annihilation' say Dernière Rénovation |

#14 When the NBC crew was covering this live, I spotted a picture from the 1980's of Bernard Hinault ('The Badger', five time TdF winner) punching a protestor hard in the face with an overhand right when they pulled that shit back then. To me, that's the right response. |

#11 They should have a car go before the cyclists. If anyone is in the road the car will either squish them or force them to reconsider their protests. |

#6 Years & years ago there was this Catalan separatist group (forget the name right now) that used to pull these stunts whenever they went through the Pyrenees mountain stages. Haven't seen those guys in ages now. |

#5 Doping or not, if you can complete the Tour de France, then "chapeau" to you. |

#4 I wonder if Dernière Rénovation is yet another branch of the Black Bloc movement, like Antifa, BLM, ELF, and so forth... |

#3 Darth - yes, quite a few cliffs in the Alps & Pyrenees mountains when they're coming down off of one; Fabio Casartelli went off one back in 1995 doing 50 MPH and was killed instantly. |

#1 Aren't there some pretty high cliff along the race path? Might be able to solve this issue permanently. |
