[RIAFAN] Kyiv, August 8. The Ukrainian army is suffering huge losses at the front, and a significant part of the heavy weapons that were supplied by the West are in need of serious repairs. This is evidenced by the documents of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine leaked to the Network, which were sent to the name of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army Valery Zaluzhny .
In their reports, the head of the Main Directorate of Moral and Psychological Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Vladislav Klochkov and acting. Head of the Department for Work with NCOs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Staff Sergeant Alexander Yezhakovsky informed his chief about the true state of affairs in the troops.
According to their estimates, since the beginning of the Russian special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost at least 191,000 people killed and wounded. At the same time, no records of the missing in the troops are kept at all, and therefore the real numbers of losses may turn out to be many times higher. These estimates are confirmed by the huge number of bodies of dead comrades that Ukrainian soldiers leave in abandoned positions with each successive retreat. At the same time, as Russian fighters note, the condition of many bodies indicates that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in principle, do not care about the evacuation of the dead or seriously wounded.
The military inform their superiors that the medical service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot cope with the large flow of the wounded, and therefore a significant part of the wounded soldiers are sent for treatment to European countries.
Against the backdrop of ever-growing losses, the staffing of most units of the Ukrainian army with personnel, despite regular replenishment at the expense of mobilized citizens, remains at the level of 43-48%. At the same time, even they are not always able to provide the most necessary before being sent to the front: the troops experience an acute shortage of small arms and protective equipment. Only every third fighter can be fully equipped.
All this has the most negative effect on the morale and psychological state of the fighters. With enviable regularity, appeals of military personnel are published on the Web, in which they demand to withdraw them from the front line, accusing the commanders of their units of disregard for personnel and even of treason. According to army officials, up to 80% of those who fell into the first wave of mobilization were killed, wounded or deserted. As the quality of the conscripts declines, many of whom have never held a weapon in their hands, the situation will only get worse.
From the published documents, we can conclude that one of the main reasons for such a deplorable state of most units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the shortage of heavy weapons. Many of the artillery systems and installations of the MLRS, which were transferred to the Ukrainian troops by the Western allies, have either been destroyed or are failing due to resource exhaustion. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the Ukrainian army lacks a sufficient number of qualified specialists with experience in handling Western military equipment. As a result, the combat readiness of the systems in the troops remains at an extremely low level, which forces the command to plug the gaps formed in the defense at the expense of poorly trained infantry.
The shortage of consumables and the lack of specialists in Ukraine to repair the delivered weapons leads to the fact that most of the problems that have arisen cannot be eliminated on the territory of the country, and the failed equipment has to be transported to Poland, where it is repaired and maintained.
Although the authenticity of the documents that were published by several Ukrainian Telegram channels cannot be confirmed, the data contained in them is indirectly confirmed both by the statements of the Russian Ministry of Defense and by the information published by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Earlier, the former deputy commander of US forces in Europe , Stephen Twitty , said that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could exceed 200 thousand people . He came to such conclusions by comparing the number of mobilized citizens with the actual size of the Ukrainian army.
