[RIA Novosti] The Pella shipyard is modernizing Project 03160 Raptor boats, taking into account the experience of their use in a special military operation in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported at the shipyard.
"Based on the results of the use of these boats during a special military operation this year, a proposal was put forward to modernize the project in terms of installing a more effective protection system and improving the combat characteristics of the boat," the agency's interlocutor said.
According to him, the modernization project provides for full localization.
"The shipyard, in the context of restrictive measures from foreign states, has carried out work on import substitution of the propulsion complex," Pella said.
Project 03160 Raptor high-speed boats are being built at Pella for the Russian Navy. They are designed for patrolling, transferring and landing troops in the coastal zone of the seas, straits and estuaries at a distance of up to one hundred nautical miles from the base point.
In addition, boats can be part of the landing craft of large landing and universal landing ships, placed on board or in a docking chamber.
The basic version of the boat is armed with the "Uprava-Kord" combat module with a 14.5 mm machine gun and two "Pecheneg" machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber placed on the side. To date, 17 boats have been delivered to the Russian fleet.
