Salman Rushdie 'talking and joking' a day after brutal attack

[NYPOST] Author Salman Rushdie was off a ventilator and in good spirits Saturday, a day after being stabbed as he went to give a lecture in upstate Chautauqua, his agent confirmed.

Rushdie, 75, remained at death's door but was said to be "talking (and joking)", fellow author Aatish Taseer tweeted.

Rushdie’s agent Andrew Wylie confirmed the update, a day after saying author was likely to lose an eye.

The author also suffered a damaged liver and severed nerves in his arm, the agent said.

Hadi Matar, 24, pleaded not guilty

to attempted murder and assault charges in connection with the shocking public attack at a nonprofit education and retreat center.

Prosecutors said Matar had preplanned the assault, getting an advance pass to Rushdie’s lecture with a fake ID.

I think what was aloud to happen reflects badly on the people attending the Chautauqua.
It is kind of like the Uvalde situation where the police failed to react in a timely manner.
What a difference it makes when a single person responds quickly like at the Greenwood Park Mall when Elisjsha Dicken quickly engaged and neutralized the shooter.
I don't carry a weapon, but my dream is that I would have strangled the Iranian agent with my bare hands within seconds.

Also, if you read the vice article, it's full of contradictions and words like 'likely', and 'the official said at some point he must have', so and so forth.

My point is, why now? Iran suddenly coming after folks in America. Bolton, Rushdie... other million dollar targets. For Soleimani? Maybe. American agencies grown soft and flaccid with all the diversity, compromised even? Probably.

I welcome any definitive action on Iran, pummel 'em into sand and shit. Just... how could nobody avert such a thing when a third world craphole can? They didn't care that Rushdie has a permanent hit out on him? Were they kicking doors, rounding up asshole Ayatollah fans or have they put all resources into sniffing out those 'MVE'? Is there a threat to Americans from Iranian agencies or not? This Bolton stuff was just rubbish then? Like a Damoclesian sword hanging on all Trump aides?
