Prominent terrorist leader killed by security forces in North Sinai’s El-Arish
2022-08-21
[AlAhram] Prominent terrorist leader Jamil Suleiman Zuraei, also known as Abu Anas, and his son were killed on Friday in an operation by the Armed Forces in El-Arish city, the capital of North Sinai governorate, a well-informed source told Ahram Online.

Abu Anas was one of the top leaders of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terrorist group’s branch in North Sinai, the so-called "Sinai Province," formerly known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis.

Although the terrorist group had announced in May 2022 that Abu Anas had been killed, this turned out to have been disinformation, as his body was not found at the time, the sources said.

According to the sources, Abu Anas was hiding in the vicinity of the fence of El-Arish Airport, which is under construction, when he and his son — both of whom were armed — were targeted.

The sources also revealed that other leading bad boyz were potted in operations over the past week; some of them were Paleostinian runaways.

The most prominent among them was Hamza al-Zamili, the mufti of the terrorist group, who was leading a cell in the Gelbana village in North Sinai, close to the navigational strip of the Suez Canal, according to the sources.

Since 2013, the army has been launching one operation after another against terrorist forces in North Sinai, among the most important of which was Comprehensive Operation Sinai launched in 2018 (COS 2018).

As a result, the rate of terrorist attacks in North Sinai has declined in the past few years following massive security and military operations.
