| Guards said to foil stabbing attack at West Bank crossing |

| [IsraelTimes] Paleostinian suspect arrested and found to be carrying a knife after guards at Reihan crossing received intelligence information on planned attack. Guards at a West Bank crossing foiled a planned stabbing attack on Saturday, arresting a Paleostinian man, the Defense Ministry said. The ministry said guards at the Reihan crossing in the northern West Bank had received information on the "attempted attack," and arrested a Paleostinian suspect who was found to be carrying a knife. The man was taken for questioning by the security services, the statement said. The incident follows an attempted attack before dawn when an Israeli security vehicle came under fire near the West Bank settlement of Shavei Shomron, the military said. No one was injured in the attack, though the car belonging to the settlement’s security team was damaged. According to Kan news, the car was hit by three bullets from the direction of the Paleostinian town of Deir Sharaf, and a total of four shell casings were found nearby. The report said the driver was conducting a patrol along a road that circles the settlement. Shavei Shomron is located in the northern West Bank, northwest of Nablus. The area has seen an uptick in shooting attacks in recent months. |
