[LB] These are advanced units that operate in the first line of offensive troops. by Yuriy Korogodskyi Approximately 4.5-5 thousand mercenaries of the "Wagner group" are fighting in Ukraine. They are used for assault operations in Donbas.
"According to our calculations, there are approximately 4.5-5 thousand of them. They currently work in certain directions, in the first line. They are like assault squads. Besides, they work in the most threatening directions. We saw their work in Lysychansk, in the direction Popasna - Bakhmut. These are advanced units that operate in the first line of offensive troops," he said. According to him, those people who have combat experience, who have appropriate training and served in the armed forces of the Russian Federation are selected. As a rule, this is an officer's staff. "And there are people there who can really perform psychologically, emotionally, and physically the most difficult tasks. These are not regular armed forces - they are of a slightly higher level," the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Ministry of Defense noted. Skibitsky reported that there are mercenaries from other countries on the territory of Ukraine, but they are few. "It was announced there that a whole legion would be created in Syria, that apparently many mercenaries want to leave Africa. They exist, but these groups are not numerous. They also operate under the auspices of "Wagner". Therefore, we do not yet see the active use of foreign mercenaries. There are there are people from Syria, from African states, from other countries, but these are not such numerous units as the Russians announced," he said. We will remind you that "Wagner" PMC actively and openly recruits mercenaries from 27 out of more than 80 subjects of Russia. This is done through street banners and recruiters. In August, the explosion of a Ukrainian rocket in Popasnaya probably killed more than a hundred fighters of the "Wagner" PMC , including the deputy head of the unit. | |

#5 Pity that the Masters of the Universe(tm) let this Ukraine mess get so out of hand. Otherwise, the PMCs could be off doing something useful like pacifying African hard boys. |

#4 ^ Actually the PMC groups seem to be used as assault shock troops if you follow how they are deployed |

#3 ...I suspect the Wagner gentlemen are staying quite cozy and out of direct fire. After all, it's hard to spend that boodle if yer dead - better the poor dumb Ivans die for the Rodina. Mike |

#2 Russian army ... optimal efficiency Now that's a combination you don't usually see. I guess it could be a relative term. |

#1 There seem to be over seven BTGs of Russian PMCs operating in Ukraine. Western MSM lumps them all together under the moniker of “Wagner”. There are also Moran and Enot for instance. It’ll be very interesting when this exercise is completed to read how they were integrated in the C3I and logistics structure of the Russian army for optimal efficiency |
