#8 Can't a wolf mate with a doggie and get the same result? That gets you half-dog/half-wolf. What they did here was take a doggie egg, remove the nucleus which contains the DNA, and replace it with a nucleus from a wolf cell. This embryo was then implanted in a beagle. The two-dollar name for this is somatic cell nuclear transfer. |

#7 Mating a wolf to a dog (usually a malamute or such, artificial insemination) is done, pups are available occasionally. They're mules, i.e. hybrids, and can't reproduce their own line. |
