IPS said the woman attacked a female guard with what appeared to be a weapon fashioned from a pair of scissors during a security check at the entrance of the prison."As soon as the attack was carried out, the guard and another officer engaged, and professionally and with determination took control of the civilian and prevented her from carrying out her intention to harm the staff," an IPS spokesperson said.
The female guard was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization, according to the IPS.
Police said officers had arrested the Paleostinian woman and taken her for questioning.
