| #1 By shutting down the pipelines, the Russians were in breach of the gas delivery contracts on Nord Stream 1. They were liable for gas not delivered. The amount was growing each day and already reached billions of Euros. The destruction of the pipelines invalidated the contracts (Force Majeure clause). How fortuitous for the Russians. Then the Russians tried the "You want candy little girl?" ploy with the undamaged half of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The Germans told the Russians, "Buzz off creep." |
