| #1 The Russians withdrew. The spit is part of the Mykoliav Oblast (district), and not part of the Kherson Oblast which was annexed by Russia. It is also within easy artillery range of the Ukrainian "mainland" which means any Rus troops stationed there would be under constant attack. I would not expect the Ukrainians to exploit this much beyond landing, taking selfies and beating a hasty exit. Staying means coming under Russian artillery and no land supply routes. |
