2022-11-21
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • One person has died and at least 19 people have been injured after a vehicle crashed into an Apple store outside of Boston on Monday morning, with four in critical condition

  • The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Kevin Bradley, of New Jersey

  • Some of the other victims were left with life-threatening injuries and 'mangled limbs'

  • Authorities said they first received 911 calls about the crash at around 10.45am and found 'multiple' people injured when they arrived on the scene of the Hingham, Massachusetts, store

  • District Attorney Tim Cruz said the victims were plowed down by the unidentified male driver

  • Witnesses say the driver was bloodied in the aftermath but survived the crash and is now in police custody

  • As many as four people were trapped inside the building at the time, but authorities say everyone was rescued

#8  There's most likely an I-Beam or bar-joist roof deck support and a steel lintel that supports that whole storefront window system.

Thanks for the explanation, Mullah. There's an Apple store on Boylston St. in Boston, near one of my clients. It's the same obnoxiously massive windowed storefront as this place is. I walked by the Boylston St. one years ago and was interested in how they did the massive window thing, so I looked at it for all of two seconds. Because Apple is the one company on Earth that I hate with a burning passion, it all of a sudden kicked in and I walked away not wanting to give the pricks the satisfaction.

#6  God forbid, these dumb f*cks made the huge front windows load-bearing ones

Those windows aren't 'load-bearing', Raj. There's most likely an I-Beam or bar-joist roof deck support and a steel lintel that supports that whole storefront window system.

They build 'em cheap, but not that cheap.

Besides, Massachusetts has some fairly strict building codes and, as a newer building, those would have been enforced during construction.

#5  raj you know how it is, these reporters have to dramatize every aspect of everything. Ya know kind like any thin in the military with armor on it is a tank.

#4  I've been in some of the stores there on Derby Street (basically a high-end strip mall) - there's no fuckin' way that building is 'on the verge of collapse' unless the SUV obliterated a good part of the supporting walls or, God forbid, these dumb fucks made the huge front windows load-bearing ones.

#2  daily Mail pics are helpful. No skid marks on the curb, and the impact on the huge store glass window suggests virtually a direct 90 degree impact angle almost centered on the window, suggestive of an intentional act.
