| Southern Yemeni separatist commander assassinated in Shabwah |

| [HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A military commander affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) was killed and two of his escorts were maimed in a kaboom in Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... ’s southeastern Shabwah province. This was reported by Yemen News Portal on Saturday, based on testimonies of local sources. According to sources, an improvised bomb went kaboom!and targeted a military pickup vehicle carrying the commander of the second battalion in the first brigade of Shabwah Defense Forces, Salem al-Jabwani, near a security checkpoint in the district of "As Said". Sources added that the earth-shattering kaboom led to the death of Jabwani and the injury of two of his escorts. The attack took place hours after nine STC forces were maimed in a similar attack in al-Mahfad district in southern Yemen’s Abyan ...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirateafter seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues... province. It is noteworthy that the Islah Party vowed last August, to make the governorates of Shabwah and Abyan an inferno for the STC’s forces in response to their control of the two governorates and the expulsion of Islah gunnies from them. |
