2022-12-11
[Dawn] The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and security forces on Saturday killed four Lions of Islam — allegedly belonging to the murderous Moslem Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group — in a mountainous area near the Pak-Afghan border in North Wazoo.

According to a CTD blurb, the Lions of Islam from the group’s Khorasan chapter (IS-K) were killed in retaliatory fire by a team conducting an intelligence-based joint operation upon receiving a tip-off that the Lions of Islam were crossing the border.

The CTD stated that two hand grenades, two Kalashnikov rifles, six magazine storages, two pistols and dozens of cartridges along with Pak currency, identification documents and other valuables were recovered from the terrorists.

Among the slain Lions of Islam were the IS-K’s local commander Mohammad Dawood Yaqoob, Abdullah Khan and Mohammad Laiq Piauddin. A fourth terrorist could not be identified.

The murderous Moslems, the CTD said, were wanted for being involved in several assassinations, kabooms and attacks on security forces.

It also mentioned that two of the Lions of Islam managed to cross the border and escaped.

THE OPERATION
The CTD of the Bannu region in KP received an alert last night that a formation of IS-K Lions of Islam had planned to cross the Pak-Afghan border with the intention of causing terrorist activities.

The CTD statement added that upon confirmation, its special team and security forces launched a security operation in the mountainous area of Dardoni in North Waziristan near the Pak-Afghan border and surrounded the area.

When six suspicious gunnies attempted to cross the border to enter Pakistain’s territory, a clash took place between the IS-K Lions of Islam and the security forces. The Lions of Islam opened fire, to which the CTD and security forces responded.

The CTD stated that an hour after the exchange of fire, a search and clearance operation was conducted in which four Lions of Islam were found to be dead.

The operation team did not suffer any loss of life, the blurb added.
How the Pak Tribune described events:
According to a statement issued by the CTD on Saturday, the operation was conducted near the border area where gunnies identified as commander Mohammad Daud, son of Mohammad Yaqoob, Abdullah, son of Khan Gul, and Mohammad Laiq, son of Piyao Din, were killed. The identity of the fourth slain terrorist could not be ascertained.

It said that all gunnies belonged to Dai'sh and were involved in terrorist activities, assassination, hand grenade attacks, kabooms and attacks on security forces.

Two hand grenades, as many Kalashnikovs with six magazines, two pistols, dozens of cartridges, identity cards, Pak currency, different types of cards, watches and other items were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.

According to details, the Bannu region CTD received information at night that a Da’ish IS-KP terrorist formation was planning to cross into Pakistain from the Afghanistan border and carry out terrorist attacks.

After confirming the information, a CTD special team and security forces immediately got ready and organised an IBO near the Pak-Afghan border hilly area in Dardoni within the limits of Ghulam Khan cop shoppe in North Wazoo district’s boundary.

As per the report, six suspected armed farmers, who looked like terrorists, crossed the border and entered the Pak territory.

An encounter ensued as gunnies on sighting the CTD personnel and security forces started firing.

The CTD and security forces personnel who were present with pre-planning also fired in retaliation.

The firing continued for an hour and as soon as it stopped, a search and clearance operation was carried out and four gunnies were found dead while other gunnies managed to escape by crossing the border.

The IBO was safe from any loss of life due to pre-planning and excellent policing tactics.

The killed gunnies were also involved in the kaboom at Wazir cop shoppe.
