[REGNUM] Zakharova responded with a quote from Vysotsky's song to the renaming of the street that bore his name in Izyum
The renaming of Vladimir Vysotsky Street in the Ukrainian city of Izyum was commented by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on December 27 in her telegram channel.
“In Izyum, Vladimir Vysotsky Street was renamed Steve Jobs Street. Probably, they cannot forgive the poet for the prophetic lines “Oh, Van, look what clowns,” Zakharova wrote, quoting the poet’s song “Dialogue at the TV.”
Recall that in the city of Izyum, as part of the campaign to “de-Russify” the country, the city authorities decided to rename 19 streets that bore the names of Russian and Soviet prominent figures.
Streets named after musician Viktor Tsoi, composer Alexander Alyabyev and others have disappeared from the city map.
