As the "Caucasian Knot" has reported , due to the dilapidated condition of the unique memorial "Novaya Zemlya" in Novorossiysk, a criminal case of negligence was opened against employees of the Ministry of Culture of the Kuban.Â
The head of the Sledkom responded to the appeal of a resident of Myskhako about the illegal transfer of a land plot near a military burial in the Krasnodar Territory for commercial construction.
In connection with this appeal, Alexander Bastrykin instructed to initiate a criminal case. The land located on the border with the memorial was transferred to the category for commercial development in 2021. Previously, the designated purpose of the land was a zone for the placement of educational facilities, involving the construction of a museum in memory of the Great Patriotic War. At the end of last year, builders began to erect a fence here, the Novorossiysky Rabochiy newspaper informs.Â
“No one knows the exact boundaries of the mass grave. An examination of the boundaries of the burial with exhumation was not carried out. Since more than 4,362 people are buried in the grave, its area cannot be equal to the area of ​​​​a small area, about 200 square meters, which it is limited to on the cadastral map. Therefore, according to In fact, the neighboring area, which was given over to the hotel, cannot but be considered a continuation of the mass grave.
Any construction on it before the examination with the exhumation of the remains of the soldiers is unacceptable, since the mass grave can be opened. After all, no one can say where it ends. The mass grave in the Valley of Death near the Sorcerer Mountain of the village of Myskhako is a group burial of Red Army soldiers who died in battles on Malaya Zemlya and died of wounds in the central part of the city in September 1943. The Hero of the Soviet Union Rubakho Filipp Yakovlevich, a Marine Corps sniper, is also buried here.
The monument was erected in 1962. Its author is a participant in the battles on Malaya Zemlya during the Great Patriotic War, Novorossiysk sculptor Nikolai Bozhenenko. 4500 names of the defenders of Novorossiysk are immortalized on the memorial. After reconstruction in 2020, 16 obelisks were installed on the territory of the military burial place and the names of the dead soldiers were inscribed on them. Previously, only 44 names were engraved here, according to the website of the Department of Culture of the Novorossiysk Administration.
