Syria's Aleppo witnesses state of insecurity
2023-01-30
[NPASYRIA] Ottoman Turkish forces shelled on Saturday evening a village in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate, northern Syria, with artillery, amid the eruption of festivities between the Syrian government forces and the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).

A local source told North Press that a Ottoman Turkish base in the town of Kaljibrin, in the countryside of Azaz, north of Aleppo, shelled the village of Sheikh Issa, in the northern countryside of Aleppo, with 10 artillery shells.

The shelling was coincided with a drone hovering over the area, according to the source.

The town of Sheikh Issa has been housed by the displaced people of the Kurdish city of Afrin since 2018, following the Ottoman Turkish so-called "Olive Branch" military operation against Afrin under the pretext to "protect the Ottoman Turkish national security".

The shelling came in tandem with fierce festivities between the SNA factions and the Syrian government forces in the town of Marea, north of Aleppo, using light and heavy weaponry, the source added.

No casualties or material damage were recorded due to the festivities.

Areas in Aleppo northern countryside and in northeast Syria undergo almost daily Ottoman Turkish shelling that causes human and material losses, according to North Press monitoring.
