Dianne Feinstein announces she will not seek re-election in 2024
2023-02-15
[FoxNews] California Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who has represented the Golden State in the U.S. Senate since 1992, announced Tuesday that she will not seek re-election in 2024.

"I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends," Feinstein said in a statement.

Feinstein, the longest-serving female senator ever, is also the oldest sitting senator at age 89.

From October to December 2022, filings from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) revealed Feinstein raised a mere $558.91.

Ahead of Feinstein's announcement, a handful of House Democrats announced they would run for her seat in the 2024 election.

Both Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., announced their bids for Feinstein's Senate seat last month. Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., is also expected to announce later this month that she will run for the seat.

#10  Unless Schiff starts wearing a dress, he's not really in contention.

This is Adam Schiff we're talking about. Nothing would surprise me.

Corruption, cartels, and Confucians
Confronts our Canute,
Who turns shoreward to shoot.
Should we mutely conclude our ablutions?

Admit it, Poetry... that one stang.

#7  I don't think Donk voters will get a 'choice' other than what the party central committee wants since they control the ballot system. It will be an opportunity to separate more money from the thieving* neo-aristocracy though.

* when you destroy the market system and implement a feudal collection system for a few special interests, its just theft by other means.

#6  will be a great primary

Dem voters will get to choose between, say, 4 varieties of crazy and three varieties of dishonest

#5  Since the dems hand pick their candidates while the pubs let any freak at all run (looking at you, Todd Akin and Roy Moore), my bet is one of the Solis sisters. Prolly Heeelda Soleeeece.

#4  Let's watch who the party decides is going to be CA's next senator. Unless Schiff starts wearing a dress, he's not really in contention.
