#10  The Russians had a large fleet during tithe Russo-Japanese War. The Kamchatka was the most famous. To even the numbers, we could recommission everything that still floats In Philadelphia. Quantity does not always make a difference.

#9  You are right. But anti-ship missile equipped bombers can target a much larger area and bring much more mass of firepower at the expense of persistence. You can't hide ships in the ocean anymore. Too much surveillance - air, sea and space based.

How many are coastal vessels? Not usually used for force projection. Given how much China is now importing, how's the Anti-Submarine fleet?
