Russia STILL holds 40,000 square miles of Ukraine and has 800,000 more troops on the ground, and taking back Crimea requires a D-Day style operation... The savage truth? It'll take MUCH more than these fantastic British tanks to beat Vladimir Putin

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • First of 14 British Challenger 2 tanks have arrived in Ukraine to support war effort

  • Ukraine's defence minister Oleksii Reznikov called them 'fantastic machines'

  • Ex-senior intelligence officer Philip Ingram says it will take more to beat Putin

#4  There are a few things that need to happen to take the Crimea.

1. Break the overland supply route into Crimea at Melitopol. Hardest part of the operation, but doable with all of the newest tanks and IFVs.

2. Keep the Krymsky bridge out of action. Much easier for Ukraine to do with Melitopol in their hands. In range of Mr. HIMARs and a lot of other things that go boom.

3. Keep the canal gate closed at Nova Kahkovka to deny water to the Crimea.

4. Wait.

Those things would make the Crimea untenable for most people and Russia would have to give it up. Not easy to do, but it is the easiest operation for Ukraine to do currently and make a large impact.
