#6 Even wilder: Russian mil blogger claims the shot down aircraft were ambushed from Ukraine. Makes more sense than Russians shot down 4 of their aircraft in one day. Readovka reports that the two helicopters and jets that crashed in Bryansk region were shot down from Ukraine's Chernihiv oblast. The report states that the aircraft was ambushed by the Ukrainian armed forces in a "carefully planned operation". |

#5 There were a lot of antiaircraft friendly fire incidents during the War in South Ossetia in 2008. The Russian Army improved, with very, very few friendly fire incidents. Dunno why all the new shootdowns, though. |

#4 Two Russian Mil Mi-8 helicopters, a Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bomber and a Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jet were shot down in Bryansk Oblast of Russia today, according to updated information. According to a channel affiliated with the Russian Air Force, one of the downed helicopters was a Mil Mi-8MTPR-1, a rare electronic warfare variant employed for jamming. It is equipped with Rychag-AV airborne jamming station. |
