Turkish-backed SNA faction arrests 3 civilians in Syria’s Afrin
2023-05-27
[NPASyria] The Ottoman Turkish-backed Military Police faction arrested on Wednesday three people in the town of Jindires in the countryside of Afrin region, northwestern Syria.

Local sources told North Press that members of the Military Police, a branch of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), arrested three people, including a woman, from the village of Kafr Dali Tahtani of Jindires district, and took them to an unknown destination.

The source added that the detainees are from one family, and they are Abdullah Haj Hannan, Mahmoud Abdel-Rahman Haj Hannan, and Nawal Khalil Haj Hannan, noting that the reason for the arrest is dealing with the former Autonomous Administration in Afrin.

The Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented the arrest of the 96 people from Afrin and its countryside by Ottoman Turkish-backed factions during the first quarter of this year, and the fate of the detainees is still unknown until now.

In January 2018, Ottoman Turkish forces and Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), launched the so-called "Olive Branch" military operation against Afrin region to push away the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) under the pretext of protecting "Ottoman Turkish national security".

The operation caused the displacement of about 300,000 of the original inhabitants of the Kurds of Afrin who have been taking shelter in 42 villages and five camps in Aleppo northern countryside, locally known as Shahba region, since then.
