#4 If a mask stopped you from exhaling CO2, you would die. I imagine it could reduce the signature, but, enough to fool a mosquito? |

#3 One way mosquitoes tend to locate people to bite is by the carbon dioxide we breathe out. Because masks cover our mouths, it may seem likely that they could prevent mosquitoes from finding and biting us, but unfortunately, this is not the case. Even if the face mask prevents mosquitoes from seeing the carbon dioxide you emit while breathing, these pests can still find you in other ways – like through body heat, sweating, or even bright colors. While wearing a face mask may be beneficial for other reasons, it’s unlikely to deter mosquitoes from biting you. |
