3 people killed, including child, woman in Syria's Daraa
2023-06-23
[NPASYRIA] Since Wednesday evening, three people were killed in separate incidents, including a woman, in the countryside of Daraa Governorate, south Syria.

A local source told North Press that Aida al-Hoshan was rubbed out by unknown button men who raided her house in the town of Mahjah, in the northern countryside of Daraa.

Al-Hoshan is accused by the town’s residents of cooperating with officers of the government forces and helping them to hand over a number of young men wanted for compulsory and reserve service.

The source said that Ahmad al-Jawani also was killed and his brother Rashid was maimed as unknown button men attacked them near the town of al-Shajara in the western countryside of Daraa.

The two brothers are civilians and they have never joined any armed military party, the source added.

The source suggested that the attackers of the two brothers might be bandidos who aimed to steal the brother’s car.

In a separate incident, Youssef al-Halqi, 12, was killed by a stray bullet after bandidos gunnies of a local gang opened fire on unknown assailants who targeted the group’s leader’s house in the city of Jasim, in the western countryside of Daraa.

Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with daily liquidations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, as well as the spread of thefts.

In July 2018, the opposition armed factions and government forces reached a cease-fire agreement mediated by Russia in the opposition-held areas of Daraa Governorate. Under the deal, the opposition factions agreed to hand over their weapons in exchange for staying in Daraa. Those who opposed the agreement were sent to Idlib, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
