President Joe Biden embraced the demand for regime change on March 26, 2022, declaring that Putin "cannot remain in power" after the February 24 invasion of Ukraine. The Wagner Group mutiny over this weekend elicited a storm of editorial and social media comments to the effect that the Russian president might be deposed after all. After Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin took the deal proposed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, called off his march on Moscow and decamped to Moscow’s closest ally, Putin was still in place. |

| #5 I think anyone who would come after Putin would echo the guy in Atlas Shrugged who wanted to use his big weapon to hold on to a town. Failure of imagination. It's not just a Foggy Bottom thing. |

| #4 Only Lindsey Graham is dumb enough to believe that the hardliners that would take over after Putin would be an improvement. Remove Putin and we replace him with someone crazy enough to go full on nuclear war. The Oligarchs are at least corrupt enough to want to go home alive to their dachas and concubines at the end of the day. |

| #2 This is just one attempt to imagine what it might be like if regime change happens in Moscow. IMHO, nobody can predict with any degree of certainty what would happen. This is why it's so scary that we have people like Victoria Nuland and Jake Sullivan in positions of power in this country who think they can play with fire without getting their fingers burned. Well, they might be right. They might not be the ones who have to pay the price. But already their delusional behavior has resulted in the deaths of perhaps hundreds of thousands of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers. How many more will die because people like Nuland and Sullivan keep sticking their noses where they don't belong? And then there are the nukes. I'm no fan of Putin but he is the evil we know. If Putin is deposed, especially in some disorderly manner as a result of American meddling, all bets are off. |
