Yes it is. We have several ranches around here that raise Bison and they are an amazing animal to see in person.

They are also tasty.

Which is why they are on a lot of menus around here. :D

#11  And they are indeed impressive critters.

Their vibe is totally different from cattle, you know you are looking at raw power when you see them up close (especially the bulls).

#10  AlanC, 9 out of the 15 were taken in SD, the rest in ND.

Didn't have any Wyoming ones in that batch.

#9  Mullah, were any of those taken in SDakota? Been out there and one of your pics looks just like it, except you don't got no Prairie Dogs.

They certainly are impressive critters.

#8  If anyone is interested, a few of my bison photos here.

Almost all were taken with a larger zoom lens and I was definitely NOT trying to p*ss them off.

#3  I've photographed bison in Wyoming and the Dakotas many times over the years. They're big and often times ornery, especially when calves are around or you approach them too closely (if you stand still and they amble by, it seems less threatening to them). She apparently came upon the two 'Bachelor Bulls' during their dust bath (they are vulnerable to predators while rolling on their backs) and approached them.

Her narrative in the article regarding their interaction with the bison prior to it getting angry at her I believe is 'incomplete'. My thought is that they approached a lot closer than '50 yards' (the Park's recommendation for all animals).
