Russian commanders deploy Uzbek construction workers to front lines - General Staff |
2023-07-23 |
[Ukrinform] The Russian command mobilized into the occupation army as "volunteers" a group of Uzbekistan citizens, who arrived in the captured city of Mariupol for construction works. That’s according to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports. "Citizens of Uzbekistan were spotted in the units of the Russian occupying forces stationed in the temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk region. They had earlier arrived in the city of Mariupol to carry out construction works. Upon arrival, they were stripped of their passports and mobilized to join the occupying forces as volunteers," the report reads. Not a new tactic. Moscow authorities have been trying to entice or coerce Central Asian migrants into the Russian army. When that doesn't work, press gang them into the army. |
