Joe Manchin says he's 'thinking seriously' about leaving Democratic Party
2023-08-11
[NYPOST] Sen. Joe Manchin said Thursday he is "thinking seriously" about leaving the Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
and registering as an independent.

"I’m thinking seriously. For me, I have to have peace of mind, basically. The brand has become so bad. The ’D’ brand and ’R’ brand," Manchin (D-WV) told Mountain State radio host Hoppy Kercheval. "You’ve heard me say a million times, I am not a Washington Democrat."
He's right, not much longer
Manchin, 75, has battled with President Biden in recent months over energy policy, accusing his administration of "ignoring" provisions to expand domestic fossil fuels in the Inflation Reduction Act — which he co-sponsored and helped pass.
Dude's 75. Go out to pasture
The senator also threatened to block nominees for the Environmental Protection Agency to protest Biden’s "radical climate agenda" following a proposal to drastically cut emissions that he said would imperil the US electric grid.

#15  If they indict Justice, it would be very poetic. It would also guarantee his election.

#14  WV, not WVF

#13  OTOH, incumbency rarely loses. OTOH, WVF has been getting redder.

He's trying to thread the needle. His likely opponent, popular governor Jim Justice, is in the fast lane of an expressway.

DoJ is trying to find something criminal about Justice's tenure as a coal executive before he became governor.

#12  I don't think this maverick/moral indignation ploy is going to sell again in WV. They know they got rolled in the sell-out to Schumer that delivered nothing. This is just noise to keep the campaign donations coming in.

#11  He's looking for Schumer to actually pay for what he bought last time.

I don't think so. He got rolled by Schumer once already.

#9  Bold move considering this week's news on Politicians Not Completely On-Board WEF.

#8  Manchin sounds like a boozer on Monday morning after he realizes he missed work again and will be officially unemployed after he listens to his voicemail. He knows he should quit drinking but there’s a game on later and he didn’t finish the case in the fridge before he passed out.

Manchin is looking for a deal to not run as an independent and screw up the Dem candidate in 2024. An acceptable alternative would be the throw away VP slot after Biden is put out to pasture. Kerry would also be a strong contender to garner that honorific creating and retirement bumping dead-end opportunity. Maybe Manchin will settle for Energy Sec in the next Dem administration.

#7  Not so much, but YMMV. The lay of the land in the WV Republican primary.

#6  Another incoming RINO ????

#5  His poll numbers are awful. I suspect his Republican opponent in the upcoming WV election will be in the corrupt DoJ's crosshairs any minute now.

#4  Poll numbers back home suck?
