Russian battleships strike ISIS hideout in Syrian Desert
2023-08-14
[NPASyria] Russian battleships docked in the Syrian coast targeted on Saturday late at night an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) hideout deep in the Syrian Desert, central Syria, following a recent attack against the Syrian government forces.

The Russian news agency Sputnik Arabic reported, citing a field source, that the attack was conducted through launching a group of precision-strike missiles, which resulted in the destruction of an ISIS hideout located in the desert between the governorates of Hama, central west Syria, and Homs, central the country, after Saturday midnight.

The attack came less than 48 hours after ISIS grabbed credit for an attack against buses of the government forces in the desert of al-Mayadin in eastern Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria. The attack killed 40 Syrian soldiers and maimed more than 10 others.

The attack was carried out "based upon accurate intelligence along with extensive reconnaissance operations conducted by Russian air forces," the source added.

"The concentrated missile attack was done through the platforms of one of the Russian battleships located across the Syrian coast," he stressed.

#4  I thought Ukraine sunk the closest thing Russia had to a battleship at the beginning of the war. It was called the Moskva and she was sent to the depths of the Black Sea where she remains to this very day.

#3  I suspect that this battleship could be sunk with two red plastic pegs.

#1  I wish they'd pick up on the distinction between a warship and a battleship. Probably too much to ask of desert dwellers.
