All tasks have been completed.

#25  "chased away by a civilian in his underwear, holding a Saiga AK.".

My first thought was some old Finnish geezer who thought they were Russians.

#24  Then go back to Russia.

#22  "Fat Ramboski""Fat Ramboski" is the obese shirtless old guy in your comment #11: A news report showed Ukrainian soldiers extinguishing headlamps they were wearing, being chased away by a civilian in his underwear, holding a Saiga AK.

I read where the propaganda released by the Russians was quite the mashup to inflate his heroism. Can't find the link at the moment. Really, do you think a group of well armed SOF are going to be "chased away by a civilian in his underwear, holding a Saiga AK.".

#21  "Fat Ramboski", as you call Boris Rozhin, was not the source for the video and indeed never mentioned the appearance of the civilian shooter in his referential blog post.

#19  Offshore the Ukrainians were occupying or replenishing an unused oil platform . The Russian air force attacked and claimed a boat destroyed. Ukrainians released a drone video. It looks the RuAF missed (video starts and ends w/ 3 boats to the right and below the oil platform) and the Ukrainians fired a SAM in response and claimed a hit that damaged the Su-30. Any claimed hit is not in the video frame.

As for Fat Ramboski? Let's just say his feats were added in post-production.

#18  In addition to the landing, there was the destruction of an S-400 SAM battery by a Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship cruise missile and destruction of an Bastion ASM system including Oniks cruise missile launcher and radar.

#17  This psyop raid was one of a series of operations in/near the Olenivka area of Crimea. There was no pitched battle. Even Russian propagandists are figuring it out now.

#16  Dozens of war criminal Putin's Russian troops were killed and images are emerging of a Ukrainian flag raised at the site.

#15  Not a related video. Through a Russian spotter's thermal imaging scope.

Titled, "A little off the top"

#14  regnum.ru has a video of the blessed event, but regnum.ru's media server sux, so I can't post it here.

#13  Slavic armies use ordinary soldiers for missions such as these, not the six million dollar each trained special forces. Likely the real Ukrainian special forces could be nearby, but observing silently.

Commanders take selections from the ranks, then execute the mission. That is why in the Russian reports ya'll don't read, so many of these groups suffer high casualties.

#12  The main idea in infantry probes is to draw fire, finding out where the enemy firing points are and what is being fired.

Always high risk, especially over water. Infantry probes carry with them a defensive artillery fire mission to cover pursuit forces as the probe withdraws, defensive artillery fire planned well in advance, as in "Reach this point if you won't want to get hit by our artillery."

#11  According to Russian reports it appears the main task for the operation was to plant the Ukrainian flag in Crimea, then leave.

A news report showed Ukrainian soldiers extinguishing headlamps they were wearing, being chased away by a civilian in his underwear, holding a Saiga AK.

#10  Probing defenses and dying.

Maybe, part of the job. But with them taking videos of putting a Ukrainian flag up during the op I bet the rumors of demise are greatly exaggerated. Especially by the Russians who lost pride.

#8  Infantry probe. Test Russians and reaction times.

Exactly. Probe and psychological warfare against the troops in Crimea. They are getting hit nearly every day by strikes and drones and now there are Ukrainian boots on the ground probing defenses.

#7  Psychological Operation

A Ukrainian soldier hangs a Ukrainian flag during a special operation by Ukrainian forces at a location given as near Olenivka and Mayak.

#4  Rozhin says more than half of the force (25/40) was eliminated.

I take it the rest of them hightailed it outta there before they could be eliminated too. The question is: What did they accomplish with this little operation?
Posted by: Abu Uluque   2023-08-24 13:06

#3  I found it saves time to completely ignore Russian reports.
