New Hampshire's Republican Secretary of State Seeking Legal Advice on Blocking Trump From Primary
2023-08-26
[Gateway] New Hampshire’s Republican Secretary of State David Scanlan is seeking legal advice on potentially blocking Trump from the primary ballot.

Scanlan has reportedly received letters begging him to take action based on legal theories fueled by the Democrat-media complex that claims the Constitution gives him the power to block Trump from the ballot.

The legal theories are based on Section 3 of the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment which states public officials who have "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against" the US may be disqualified from public office.

Trump has not been charged with engaging in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.

"Not being a lawyer and not wanting to make a decision in a vacuum, I will be soliciting some legal opinions on what is appropriate or not before I make any decision," Scanlan told the Boston Globe.

"I have some in-house staff attorneys that are election experts," Scanlan said. "I will be asking the attorney general’s office for their input. And ultimately whatever is decided is probably going to require some judicial input."

The Boston Globe reported:

#12  An artillery piece or SAM site becomes apparent when it emits or fires. Scanlan has exposed himself. He should be primaried because he can no longer beat a Democrat candidate in NH.

Most American voters vote the party line down ticket. People that like Trump do not forget. The party is run by RINOs in most states. The establishment will likely try to force Scanlan on the electorate and demand that Trump supporters support him. I have met too many Trump people to think that is likely to be a winning strategy. Is a person who will decorate their boat or car in MAGA regalia and parade it, likely to bust a move to a RINO DJ? It’s not going to happen. There are areas of the country where Scanlan would still be elected. NH is too purple to elect a candidate that has stabbed the Donald.

#10  "Seeking Legal Advice"
Lawyers always feel 'grey area' things should taken to court to decide. Cause then lawyers get paid.

#9  If you're a Republican talking to the Boston Globe, I already know enough about you to oppose you.

#8  As a resident of NH I'm very disappointed in some of the weirdo Rino positions that get floated around.

All I can do is vote against them and ignore them. it would be nice to wait for, you know, a verdict.

There are far too many tyrant wannabes everywhere.

I think that Alice in Wonderland was mistaken for a how to guide. Sentence first, then verdict.

#7  Wants to be one of the cool kids, I suppose.

Perhaps we should include favorable articles in the NY Times among addicitive drugs that are forbidden to all, especially politicians?

#6  ...Alan Dershowitz - of all people - did a very good article a few days back making an excellent case that the 14th Amendment doesn't, in this case, prohibit jack squat. And that even if it did, it would be nice to wait for, you know, a verdict.

#3  NH is a bizarre mixture of freedom-loving folk and RINOs up the wazoo. That gov'nah, Sununu, is right up there with 'em.

When Sununu vetoed a bill to allow Ivermectin to be available OTC, that really opened my eyes to the political facade that is New Hampshire.
