The Foundational Falsehood Underlying Palestinian Claims
2023-09-14
[AmericanThinker] Of all the falsehoods that have been mythologized regarding Israel and Palestine, none has been more pervasive and damaging than the claim that Israel constitutes "Occupied Palestine."

Why? Because this claim underlies all other Palestinian claims of being the legitimate and persecuted inhabitants of Israel. Take away this keystone myth, and Palestinians lose all other claims of Israeli/Jewish victimhood and justifications of decades of violence propagated against Jews, Arabs, and Europeans.

These pernicious claims of Palestinian originalism have been promulgated since Israel’s founding by a range of bad actors, including radical Arab countries, the Soviets, and European and American Progressives...not to mention the Palestinians themselves. Ask your average American or European why Palestinians deserve their own country, and one is likely to be told, "because they were there first, and they were displaced by European Jews." Wrong!

...the 1880 Ottoman census tallied 275,000 people in a land that Mark Twain, in his 1867 travel memoirs, described as "desolate" and "barren." Of this total, about 10% were Jewish, mostly concentrated in Jerusalem. Jews continued to migrate to Palestine, purchasing land from Turkish and Arab landowners.

Today (as of 2021) there 14 million people calling themself Palestinians (Google search "palestinians total"). So let do some math.
(14000000/250000)/(2021 - 1880) = 0.397 average growth rate per year.
Now, According to Wordometer (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/world-population-by-year/) World population 1880 was, approx (interpolated) 1440 million. The same source for 2021: 7909 million. Hence the average growth rate per year is:
(7909/1440)/141 = 0.039.
That is, Palestinian growth rate per year > 10*(rest of the world's growth rate per year).
Heh???

#3   Within the next decade the country’s mostly-Palestinian Muslim population will become the majority, although about 90 percent of them have no political rights in the Israeli system.

*Shrug* The experts have been scaring themselves with that claim since the early 1950s, during which time the Arab-Israeli and Palestinian birth rates have fallen significantly, even as the Israeli birth rate has risen — nowadays they’re almost the same, but Israeli babies have a better survival rate.

Note that the Moslems of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Afghanistan also have no political rights in the Israeli system — because they have their own rights under their own governments. If the residents of the Palestinian Territories are unhappy because their political leaders are tinpot totalitarian tyrants, that is not Israel's responsibility. And anyway, the Palestinians in Jerusalem can have Israeli rights and citizenship upon filling out the form requesting Israeli citizenship, but they choose not to do so. Palestinians in the rest of the West Bank can have all sorts of rights if they marry an Israeli, but again almost all do not.

Under the Israeli program the Palestinians languish behind 35-foot-tall concrete walls in what are little more than open air prisons

Such rot. But Peter Zeihan, who seems to be a nice, thoughtful man, clearly has never seen Israel’s internal and external borders for himself. Elsewise he would be talking about the worrisome porosity of the fence along the Green Line, which crossed by about as many illegal Palestinian workers each day as 100,000+ who come in legally, plus another 30,000 working legally for Israelis in the West Bank. Gaza sends another 20,000. So depending on how much of the Palestinian population in the territories is real versus imaginary, somewhere between 10% and 20% enter Israel each day to earn significantly more than they would for the same job at home. How vile the Israelis are, to be sure.

#2  Even Israel isn’t what it once was. Within the next decade the country’s mostly-Palestinian Muslim population will become the majority, although about 90 percent of them have no political rights in the Israeli system. The two-state process that sought to generate a country for the Palestinians has been dead for years and we have already seen the Israelis implement a very successful separation plan more than a bit reminiscent of South Africa’s Apartheid.

In fact, Israeli ultranationalists in private conversations even welcome the comparison to Apartheid, because they think Apartheid was gentler than what modern Israel has achieved. Under Apartheid, the black South Africans could travel to white-controlled zones for work. Under the Israeli program the Palestinians languish behind 35-foot-tall concrete walls in what are little more than open air prisons with the Israelis controlling Palestinian access to power, food and water. As the thinking goes, who cares if this radicalizes the Palestinians if they are radicalized on the other side of a wall. Arguably, places like Tunisia or Pakistan are now “more equal” democracies than Israel. (Ugh, I’m going to get so much hate mail for these last two paragraphs.)
