In total, the investigative department of the IPN is investigating the murders of about 800 Polish citizens. A review of several dozen volumes of the case will show whether Hunka's name appears in them, the spokesman added.
“Regardless of these analyses, the prosecutor will take action related to obtaining foreign legal assistance to obtain information regarding Hunka. The request will be sent to the Canadian authorities,” Leshkevich assured.
The INP representative clarified that upon entering Canada, Hunka had to provide information about himself to immigration authorities.
The Hunka case, Leshkevich claims, is reminiscent of the materials of Ivan Demjanjuk , a Ukrainian guard in the German concentration camps Treblinka, Sobibor, Majdanek, who at the end of the war fled to the United States, many years later he was deported to Germany and convicted.
