Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club, said that during an examination of the bodies of the former head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who died in the plane crash, fragments of hand grenades were discovered.
“There was no external influence (on the plane),” Putin quoted the report of the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin.
At the same time, Putin noted that an examination for the presence of alcohol or drugs in the bodies of the victims was not carried out, although it would have been worth doing. The President recalled that not only 10 billion rubles, but also cocaine were found in the office of the Wagnerites.
On August 23, a private Embraer Legacy plane with Prigozhin and the commander of the Wagner group Dmitry Utkin on board crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino in the Tver region. There were a total of 10 people on board, all of whom died.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for violation of traffic safety rules and operation of air transport. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on August 30 that investigators have not yet come to conclusions about the causes of the disaster. One version is a deliberate crime.
