  • Police have an ongoing investigation and no suspects have been arrested

As of early November, the Chicago Police Department has reported 25,269 motor vehicle thefts this year, which is a 56 percent increase from 2022 and a 193 percent increase from 2021.

The number is expected to rise as the year ends. Sources close to CPD say the department de-emphasizes solving these crimes to devote more resources to more serious crimes.

One option similar to yours is called 'LoJack' and has been around for years.
