#12  P.S. she claimed the steel in the World Trade Centers melted when it fact it didn't. It just got hot enough to fail.

M. Murcek what she actually said, "This is the first time in history that steel has been melted by fire". An ignorant statement from an ignorant woman.

#10  I might add that the damage done by the Northridge quake was far more extensive than the damage done by the pallet fire. Numerous freeways and bridges were closed by the earthquake.

#8  According to the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine's Transporation Research Board, LA's freeway system was rebuilt in a record time of one year after the Northridge earthquake in 1994. Republican Pete Wilson, one of my all time favorite politicians, was governor at the time. The TRB reports that 75% of the damage from that quake was repaired in six months. Let's see how long it takes Newsom and Buttigeig to fix I-10.

#7  You or I would be on the hook for that if we did it. Oh, wait...

#6  Quotes from American thinker Article this morning;

"Homeless people stealing power caused $500 million of damage to an LA freeway. It will take three months to repair. 10 million people are inconvenienced because homeless people were allowed to steal electricity."

"Sure, there will be an investigation. California's Gov. Gavin Newsom says it will be quick. But based on what we have seen elsewhere, if the results are not what they want, it will be an extended investigation, one with no disclosures owing to the investigation, like the Nashville shooter case.

That said, it's pretty obvious that allowing a bum encampment full of illegal drug users is just a matter of time before some kind of disaster occurs."

#5  Bad luck it ain't. Bad politicians is more like it.

#4  Sounds like either the city or the state was using the underpass as a storage area for pallets which, or course, are made of wood. Put all that flammable material next to a homeless encampment and you have a recipe for disaster. Well, that's California for you, that's Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. The TV last night showed a Newsom press conference in which he claimed to be taking the problem very seriously. Too bad he didn't take it seriously before the fire started.

#3  “The fire that burned through one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country last week started as a cooking fire at a homeless encampment, according to an investigation by the Los Angeles Fire Department,” the Times noted at the time."

#1  They seem to be minimizing the possibility that the homeless camp was the actual site of the origin of the fire.
