Report: Defense Secretary Warned Congress U.S. Troops Could Be Deployed If Ukraine Aid Is Not Sent
2023-12-06
[Breitbart] Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned Congress on Tuesday during a private briefing that if they do not pass more aid to Ukraine, it would “very likely” lead to U.S. troops fighting a war in Europe.

“If [Vladimir] Putin takes over Ukraine, he’ll get Moldova, Georgia, then maybe the Baltics,” House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) told The Messenger, after Austin and other senior Biden administration officials briefed House lawmakers on their request for more aid for Ukraine.

“And then the idea that we’ll have to put troops on the ground in Secretary Austin’s word was very likely,” McCaul added. “That’s what we’re trying to avoid.”

The Messenger reported that the warning “did little” to win over Republican skeptics, who oppose more aid to Ukraine without more accountability and transparency on how it will help Ukraine.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told the outlet, “I don’t think we got the clarity that we’ve been requesting,” and that “It remains to be seen whether members are satisfied with the answers provided.”

#13  Some additional context:

There will be no additional funding for Ukraine without first making extensive reforms to the U.S. immigration system, House Speaker Mike Johnson told President Biden.
Tuesday, 12/5, I believe before Brandon's ransom demands and Lunch Vader passing the note.

#12  If they're going to send US troops to Ukraine - that's costs money as well.

#9  I like how they managed to make it sound like a hostage ransom.

"Give me the money, or the military Gets It."

#7  No.

So whats the play here; Give us all your money, or we send stateside troop gunslingers left from Enduring Freedom who can still walk to Europe, re-fill the ranks with this surplus of fighting age immigrants, fast track them through Basic because they are already trained, and give them different combat assets in grouping based on their point of departure - a Venezuelan Mech, Chinese Armored Cav, Haitian Infantry Unit, etc. because 'language', and have them positioned accordingly?

If Ukraine is cracked, going to do that anyways?

#5  We would need legions of prosecutors and investigators to clean up the millions of cases of fraud, waste and conspiracy associated with Obama and Biden Administrations looting of the public treasury to cronies, illegal immigrants, favored demographic groups and foreign powers. Instead, it will just pass into the mists of bureaucratic history, because Washington now has a firm "rice-bowl" mindset and padlock on the actual taxpayer checkbook!

Accountability is what Democrats fear the most. I'm sure they'd sell Zelensky down the river before they submitted to a full accounting of where all the money has gone.

#3  No. If the Russians are dumb enough to still think they can take on NATO and push through the Baltic, then kick their ass. Otherwise no.
