According to the sources, the prisoners who had escaped were from al-Said District, which is one of the most prominent centers of the conflict between factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition and pro-UAE factions, Islah factions, and al-Qaeda.
The sources pointed out that the leaders of the local authority in Shabwah exchanged accusations about what is believed to be a planned operation behind the prisoners’ escape.
The escape of the nine prisoners comes days after units from the pro-Saudi, Deir al-Watan forces were sent to Shabwah province.
