German Police Search Cologne Cathedral After Security Threat
2023-12-24
[AlJazeera] Cologne police chief says sniffer dogs will search building following indications of attack planned for New Year’s Eve.

German police have searched a cathedral in the western city of Cologne amid warnings of a possible attack planned for New Year’s Eve.

Cologne police chief Michael Esser said on Saturday that Cologne Cathedral would be closed and sniffer dogs would be brought in to search the building after the evening mass service.

“Even though the information relates to New Year’s Eve, we are from this evening doing everything we can to ensure the safety of visitors of the cathedral on Christmas Eve,” Esser said in a statement.

Visitors on Sunday will have to undergo security checks before entering the cathedral.

German newspaper Bild reported that authorities in Germany, Austria and Spain have all received indications that an Islamist group was plotting attacks in Europe, with targets possibly including Christmas masses in Cologne, Vienna and Madrid.

On Saturday, special forces in Vienna and Germany arrested a number of suspects, Bild also reported.

Al Jazeera could not independently confirm the arrests.

Austrian police said in a statement they were boosting security for churches and Christmas markets due to the heightened state of alert.

“Given that terrorist actors throughout Europe are calling for attacks on Christian events, especially around December 24, the security authorities have taken the corresponding protection measures in public spaces,” the police said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Spain’s Interior Ministry announced it would ramp up security measures for the Christmas holiday period.

Update from the Jerusalem Post at 12:45 p.m. ET, courtesy of Skidmark:
According to the Bild, several suspects were arrested in the Ottakring district of Vienna, while another was arrested in Saarland, Germany.

The arrested suspects are Tajiks allegedly affiliated with the Islamic State in Khorasan Province, the branch of ISIS in south-central Asia, according to the report.
Courtesy of DarthVader, PJ Media weighs in, adding:
Vienna’s St. Stephen’s Cathedral is "said to be particularly at risk," to the extent that the Vienna police are guarding the venerable structure with submachine guns and implementing controls on who can get into the building. They explained: "These precautionary measures serve to maintain the general safety of the people in Austria. There will be increased police precautions over the Christmas holidays. Civilian and uniformed emergency services with special equipment and long weapons are deployed. Police attention is focused primarily on churches and religious events, especially church services and Christmas markets. The measures are taken depending on necessity and can also include access controls if necessary. Visitors to events and church services are asked to bring a photo ID and to allow more time than usual."
When the Europeans finally do get sick of this shit, (hopefully before they are outbred) islamist blood will run in rivers
Breitbart adds:
The arrests come after multiple terror attacks across Europe in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack on Israel, with Islamist jihadis killing multiple people in Belgium and France. Earlier this month, the European Union warned that because of the war between Israel and Hamas, there was a “huge risk” of Islamist terror attacks in Europe during the Christmas holiday season.

Other Tajik members of the “Islamic State in Khorasan Province” terror group were arrested in Germany and the Netherlands over the Summer over an alleged plot to carry out a major terror attack. The seven-member group had reportedly smuggled into Germany after posing as refugees from Ukraine with fake documents.

Migrant colonist given four months' jail under new law for grabbing woman's bum
12 May
[TheLocal.de] On Wednesday the jury in Bautzen, Saxony, convicted a 27-year-old Libyan to a four-month custodial sentence without probation for grabbing a 34-year-old woman’s buttocks three times against her will on a public street.

“It may be the first conviction Germany-wide under the new regulation,” said Judge Dirk Hertle.

Paragraph 184i was implemented in the criminal code after the incidents in front of Cologne Cathedral on New Year’s Eve 2015, when hundreds of women reported that young men from North Africa sexually assaulted or robbed them. The new paragraph became law in November 2016 and two weeks later, the crime in Bautzen took place, said Hertle.
