US students touring Israel: Campus antisemitism is palpable, violent — and inescapable

#2  Israel quickly regained control in the south from the marauding Gazans, Gromble Dribble4342. They’re now letting the kibbutzniks move back, except for those closest to the border. The Golan is more problematic — they won’t be letting residents move back until Hezbollah is pushed back significantly, which won’t be seriously addressed until Gaza needs less manpower. But the rest of the country is fine, the concerns being the slowing rate of rocket warnings and the occasional knife/car attack.

There are regular articles about American Jewish students concluding that Israel is safer than their American college campus nowadays, not to mention parents being unwilling to send their precious high school seniors to unsafe Ivy League schools. I’m not sure what the statistics look like, though — it could be reporters excited about a juicy story rather than a strong trend.

#1  I find it difficult understanding how the students would choose to enter a warzone at times like these. OTOH a local church group arrived in Israel by air on Oct 7 just as the attacks became known. They were promptly put on buses, sent to Jordan by road and returned to the USA ASAP.
